The Episcopal Diocese of Arizona : Province 8

November 04, 2016

On Wednesday November 2, I boarded a flight bound to Bismarck, North Dakota via Denver, Colorado. By the time I made the connection in Denver, I was aware of how many clergy were also on their way to answer the call to stand with Standing Rock in opposition...

As a child growing up in the 1960s, I had a fascination with Europe of the 1930s and 40s. I remember hearing about children in Norway during World War II who hid gold in their sleds and flew past the Nazis to give support to the Resistance. I was inspired b...

Eucharist in a Box

October 27, 2016

This past weekend the Eucharist in a Box made a trip to St. Thomas, Pawhuska. It was a wonderful surprise to have 4 children who were visiting grandparents for the weekend at the event. Their energy and excitement bubbled over to the adults, and after using the materials, groups went into the nave and found many items that are a part of the materials located in the church.

Both Eucharist and Baptism in a Box are willing to travel to any congregation, to set-up, and answer any questions you may have. Contact Sabrina Evans at [email protected] or call (405) 232-4820.

Liturgy Leadership Festival

October 19, 2016

This past weekend’s annual Liturgy Leadership Festival took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral, OKC, and it was a wonderful event!

The guest presenter was Roger Hutchison, artist, writer, and director of Christian Formation and Parish Life at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church, Houston, TX. All youth, and several adults, were able to experience prayer in a new and different way at Come to the Table, with finger-painting! As you can see, we have some budding artist in the diocese.

Other workshops included Thurifer, Lay Eucharistic Visitors, Being a Good Lay Reader, Using Your Bulletin for Formation and Evangelism, and Acolyting. Ministries then served at the Festival Eucharist.

The sermon was “painted” by the Very Rev. Justin Lindstrom, Dean of the Cathedral, and the prayers of the people were also “painted”.

The Bishop’s Bowl was awarded to St. John’s, Norman. They were a small but mighty crowd and one of their youth volunteered to be torch bearer during the Eucharist.
