Church Library

The St. John’s church library is open anytime the church is open, offering books, tapes and videos for children, teens and adults, on a variety of subjects ranging from church history and theology to biography and fiction. In addition, the church library serves as a reading and reflection area for those seeking a quiet spot to relax. A library committee holds an annual book sale that raises money for library purchases. Anne Harris serves as librarian for the church.

Wildmen

The Wildmen is an early morning book discussion group that meets every other Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. in The Commons. Recent reads have included Rocks of Ages, by Stephen Jay Gould; The Omnivore’s Dilemma, by Michael Pollan; and Reinventing the sacred: A new view of science, reason and religion, by Stuart Kauffman.

Group members do not always agree with the authors or with each other. (Frequently they come up with much better ideas for books or at least much better ways of expressing ideas.) The fellowship and intellectual stimulation is treasured by the participants. Their discussion is thoughtful and they invite new participants warmly.
