Exploring our roots


Led by Bishop John Smylie, 26 Diocese of Wyoming Clergy and partners will be headed to Ireland and Scotland on May 22, 2018, returning on June 2nd. The purpose of this clergy pilgrimage, according to Bishop Smylie, “is to deepen our understanding of Celtic spirituality, and to go deeper into our life with God and our relationships with one another.”

Watch for photos and reflections that will be posted by pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.

Years ago, the ladies of the Church of Our Saviour Hartville had an idea to host a tea.  We would invite the women in the communities of Hartville and Guernsey.   As we planned the event we decided to make it a luncheon and invite our fellow parishioners in Wheatland, Glendo, Torrington, Douglas, and Lusk.  The idea was a success from the first luncheon and has continued over the years.

Episcopal Asset Map to be used by Diocese of Wyoming to “Find a Church”

Presiding Bishop: “revised, expanded, updated, user-friendly and now includes virtually the entire Episcopal Church.”

The Episcopal Asset Map, an online platform showing the location and ministries of Episcopal churches, schools and other communities, has been revamped and refreshed with more-detailed information, easier access and ease of navigation.

2nd Quarter Foundation Grants Awarded

The dream of The Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming (FEDW) is to support and inspire congregations as they share in God’s work of ministry and outreach that all creation should live in peace, harmony, and fulfillment. 

Six grants totaling almost $200,000 were approved by FEDW this quarter:

  • St. Andrew's, Atlantic City - Van for Community Entry Services
  • St. Bartholomew's, Cokeville - Exterior Repair & Painting
  • St Thomas', Dubois - Roofing and Exterior Logwork
  • Our Father's House, Ethete - Renovation of Parish Hall
  • St. George's, Lusk - Matching Funds for Mustard Seed Dinners
  • Holy Communion, Rock Springs - Books for Raising Readers

In addition:

a commitment to Kiteto for funds to be distributed over the next seven years, and
contributions made on behalf of the Iona School 2018 graduates and FEDW Board to the Hospital at Nablus, Jerusalem

The broad responsibilities of this ministry include becoming informed about the work and mission of Episcopal Relief and Development, ensuring that people in your community know about its work in the world, and encouraging fundraising and awareness campaigns throughout your community.

New Region 5 Diocesan Council Representative

Peg Larsen, Holy Communion Church in Rock Springs, is the new Region 5 Representation on the Diocesan Council.  Region 5 includes all of southwest Wyoming, from Rock Springs to Evanston and up to Bondurant.
