Mission Camp

SPRING BREAK – I WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Mission Camp is in its fifth year running in the Diocese of Oklahoma. This camp is for high school students grades 9-12 and is staffed by college students and adults from around the Diocese.

Mission Camp has reached out to many citizens in need in the community. Projects have included nursing home and hospital ministry, Vacation Bible School, and work with the Allie’s House organization. There have been hands on jobs such as building wheel chair ramps, building decks, St. Crispin’s projects and painting. In addition, there have been projects such as “mini home make-overs,” church clean-up, and many, many bags of raked leaves!

The week begins with team-building activities and ice-breakers at a Challenge Ropes Course. Staff and participants will be able to take part in low ropes and high ropes events. The remainder of the week, Tuesday – Thursday, will be devoted towards the week’s projects. The session ends on Friday.

The program of Mission Camp in 2009 (March 16-20) focused on diocesan based projects. Camp participants worked with congregations around the diocese who were in need of special attention. In addition, Saint Simeon’s retirement community in Tulsa, and St. Crispin’s Summer Camp were also served.

Thanks to everyone who made it such a great week.

Please plan on joining us in 2010 for a week of fellowship, service and ministry!
